A Brief History of Department Economics
Government Degree College, Mandapeta was established on 31-08-1989 in a small Zilla Parishad Elementary School. The college began with two courses B.A. and B.Com initially. Later on a few more courses were added to cater to the educational needs of nearly fifteen villages in and around Mandapeta and now it offers 4 Conventional Courses, 2 Restructured Courses and 3 New Market Oriented Courses.
The Department of Economics was started along with college in 1989. Since then, the department has been working to cater the economic knowledge of the students in the rural context.
Since its inception Department Offered BA Programme with History Economics and Political Science combination. Department follows the syllabus prescribed by the University and for the enrichment of the students some inputs are included which are useful for competitive exams and local importance. The Incharge of the department design departmental timetable based on college timetable prepared by time table committee and also time table for bridge course and remedial classes may be prepared according to the need.
Activities of the Department: To improve the academic awareness of the students to achieve 100 percent result in all papers and train them for competitive examinations. Department also conducting several departmental activities during the academic year.
Question bank: We are providing Question bank to all Students of Economics to help them in the examinations
Co-Curricular activities: Beside class room teaching we are conducting seminars, Quiz Programmes, Group Discussions, Guest Lectures, Essay Writing competitions, Student seminars and Field Visits with students for the better understanding of the subject and create interest among them.
Guidance for Competitive Exams and PG Entrance: For all BA students we are giving advice and preparation tips how to crack competitive exams as BA students are more depend on competitive exams and also we are giving coaching and some useful tips for PG entrance exams to Final Year students
