INTERNAL COMPLAINT COMMITTEE (ICC)
The Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) in degree colleges is established to address and resolve issues related to sexual harassment, discrimination, and other forms of misconduct within the campus. The committee aims to create a safe and respectful environment for all students, faculty, and staff by providing a structured process for reporting, investigating, and resolving complaints. The ICC is dedicated to upholding the principles of justice and fairness while ensuring that all members of the college community are treated with dignity and respect.
To fulfil the prescribed UGC norms, the Internal Complaint Committee (ICC)was constituted in 2021 at Government Degree College, Mandapeta. The members of the staff in the ICC are to address and resolve complaints related to sexual harassment, discrimination, and misconduct, ensuring a safe, respectful, and equitable environment for all members of the college community.

Mission

Objectives
- Ensure Fairness: To provide a fair and unbiased process for addressing and resolving complaints related to sexual harassment, discrimination, and misconduct.
- Protect Confidentiality: To handle all complaints with the utmost confidentiality and protect the privacy of all parties involved.
- Promote Awareness: To educate the college community about the policies, procedures, and resources available for addressing complaints and preventing misconduct.
- Provide Support: To offer support and resources to individuals affected by harassment, discrimination, or misconduct, including counseling and legal assistance if needed.
- Monitor and Improve: To regularly review and improve the policies and procedures related to internal complaints to ensure their effectiveness and relevance.
Functions
- Complaint Handling: Receiving, recording, and addressing complaints related to sexual harassment, discrimination, and other forms of misconduct in a fair and confidential manner.
- Investigation: Conducting thorough and impartial investigations into complaints, gathering evidence, and interviewing relevant parties.
- Resolution: Making informed decisions and recommendations for resolving complaints, which may include disciplinary actions, counseling, or other appropriate measures.
- Awareness and Training: Organizing workshops, seminars, and training programs to educate the college community about acceptable behavior, legal rights, and the complaint process.
- Reporting: Providing periodic reports to the college administration on the nature and status of complaints, outcomes, and any recommendations for policy changes.
- Support Services: Offering support services to complainants and respondents, including counseling, mediation, and assistance with legal matters if necessary.
Grievance Redressal
- Submission of Complaints: Individuals can submit complaints in writing or through an online portal, detailing the nature of the issue and any supporting evidence.
- Acknowledgment: The ICC acknowledges receipt of the complaint and provides a timeline for investigation and resolution.
- Investigation: The committee conducts a comprehensive investigation, including interviews with the complainant, respondent, and any witnesses, as well as reviewing relevant evidence.
- Resolution and Action: Based on the investigation, the ICC determines appropriate actions to resolve the complaint, which may include disciplinary measures, mediation, or other remedies. The outcome is communicated to the parties involved.
- Follow-Up: The ICC will hold a meeting every first Friday of the month to discuss ongoing initiatives, address any grievances, and plan future activities.
